Travel to Poland

Our workshop location is Warsaw, the capital city of Poland. From Europe and beyond the fastest way to get there is by air. Warsaw has two airports “Warsaw Chopin” (WAW) and “Warsaw Modlin” (WMI).

Warsaw Chopin is the main international Warsaw airport only about half an hour journey by bus (175 or N32 night line) or city train SKM to the city centre (one-time ticket costs 4.40 PLN). If a taxi transfer is more convenient for you, use the taxi services recommended by the airport.

Warsaw Modlin is situated about 35 km from the centre and the journey can take about 1 hour by Koleje Mazowieckie train (plus short journey by the company shuttle bus to/from the “Modlin” railway station). At the airport from the KM ticket machine you can buy the ticket called “bilet lotniskowy” which also allows for further or prior 75-min journey by the city transportation. Remember to write down your name and hour of departure on this ticket. Alternatively you can travel to Warsaw Modlin by coach.

Warsaw has also direct railway connections with Berlin, Budapest, Linz, Munich, Ostrava, Vienna and Vilnius. Search connections to stations Warszawa Centralna or Warszawa Gdańska.

Public transportation in Warsaw

In Warsaw you can use buses, trams, subway and SKM city trains. For these journeys you should buy WTP (Warszawski Transport Publiczny) tickets. The tickets can be purchased from kiosks, ticket machines or online. Ticket machines in the vehicles allow you to buy only time tickets (20-min in zones I-II (costs 3,40 PLN), or 75-min in zone I or same vehicle journey (costs 4,40 PLN), or 90-min in zones I-II (costs 7,00 PLN)). If you stay for at least 72 hours you can save by purchasing the “3-day” ticket from ticket machines at stops and stations or from kiosks – depending on how many single journeys you need to make during the time. The 72h ticket costs 36 PLN for travelling within zone I.

In addition, you can use regional KM (Koleje Mazowieckie) trains and WKD (Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa) trains. These trains allow you also to travel to cities neighbouring Warsaw. Usually you need to buy a KM or WKD ticket for one-time KM or WKD journey or use the short-term WTP tickets (e.g. 24h “daily” or 72h “3-day” ticket). Short-term tickets like the 24h or 72h ticket can be purchased from WTP ticket machines at stops and stations.

To plan your journey use the website or mobile app “Jak dojade” or WTP timetables.
