From Europe and beyond the fastest way to get there is by air. Warsaw has two airports <a href=\"https:\/\/lotnisko-chopina.pl\/en\/index.html\">&#8220;Warsaw Chopin&#8221; (WAW)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.modlinairport.pl\/\">&#8220;Warsaw Modlin&#8221; (WMI)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Warsaw Chopin<\/strong> is the main international Warsaw airport only about half an hour journey by bus (<strong>175<\/strong> or <strong>N32<\/strong> night line) or city train SKM to the city centre (one-time ticket costs 4.40 PLN). If a taxi transfer is more convenient for you, use the <a href=\"https:\/\/lotnisko-chopina.pl\/en\/taxi.html\">taxi services recommended by the airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Warsaw Modlin<\/strong> is situated about 35 km from the centre and the journey can take about 1 hour by <a href=\"https:\/\/lotniskowy.mazowieckie.com.pl\/pl\">Koleje Mazowieckie train<\/a> (plus short journey by the company shuttle bus to\/from the &#8220;Modlin&#8221; railway station). At the airport from the KM ticket machine you can buy the ticket called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/lotniskowy.mazowieckie.com.pl\/en\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/lotniskowy.mazowieckie.com.pl\/en\">bilet lotniskowy<\/a>&#8221; which also allows for further or prior 75-min journey by the city transportation. Remember to write down your name and hour of departure on this ticket. Alternatively you can travel to Warsaw Modlin by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.modlinairport.pl\/page\/bus\">coach<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Warsaw has also direct <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rozklad.pkp.pl\/en\">railway connections<\/a> with Berlin, Budapest, Linz, Munich, Ostrava, Vienna and Vilnius. Search connections to stations <strong>Warszawa Centralna<\/strong> or <strong>Warszawa Gda\u0144ska<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Public transportation in Warsaw<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Warsaw you can use buses, trams, subway and SKM city trains. For these journeys you should buy <strong>WTP<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtp.waw.pl\/en\/\">Warszawski Transport Publiczny<\/a>) tickets. The tickets can be purchased from kiosks, ticket machines or online. Ticket machines in the vehicles allow you to buy only time tickets (20-min in zones I-II (costs 3,40 PLN), or 75-min in zone I or same vehicle journey (costs 4,40 PLN), or 90-min in zones I-II (costs 7,00 PLN)). If you stay for at least 72 hours you can save by purchasing the &#8220;3-day&#8221; ticket from ticket machines at stops and stations or from kiosks &#8211; depending on how many single journeys you need to make during the time. The 72h ticket costs 36 PLN for travelling within zone I. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, you can use regional <strong>KM<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mazowieckie.com.pl\/en\">Koleje Mazowieckie<\/a>) trains and <strong>WKD<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/wkd.com.pl\/\">Warszawska Kolej Dojazdowa<\/a>) trains. These trains allow you also to travel to cities neighbouring Warsaw. Usually you need to buy a KM or WKD ticket for one-time KM or WKD journey or use the short-term WTP tickets (e.g. 24h &#8220;daily&#8221; or 72h &#8220;3-day&#8221; ticket). Short-term tickets like the 24h or 72h ticket can be purchased from WTP ticket machines at stops and stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To plan your journey use the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/jakdojade.pl\/warszawa\">website or mobile app \u201cJak dojade\u201d<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtp.waw.pl\/en\/timetables\/\">WTP timetables<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More info on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtp.waw.pl\/en\/public-transport-in-warsaw\/\">public transportation in Warsaw and the neighbourhood, tickets and zones<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are not a citizen of an EU member state you need a valid travel document (passport), and a visa (if required). For more details about visas check <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.pl\/web\/diplomacy\/visas\">https:\/\/www.gov.pl\/web\/diplomacy\/visas<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/study.gov.pl\/visa-application\">https:\/\/study.gov.pl\/visa-application<\/a>.
